The Spanish League (ACB) convened its Assembly in Barcelona today and approved that, effective immediately, the canon for teams to join the League from the Federation-run second division championship (LEB) will be reduced from 4,7 M euros to 1,6. Promoted clubs will have four years to pay this amount, which will be reimbursed in case they are relegated again. The new fee comes after the ruling of the State's National Commission for Market and Competition, which voided the previous fee system months ago.

Other requirement for clubs to join the ACB from LEB will be a mandatory minimum budget of 2 M euros. These two requirements are effective immediately, so, Gipuzkoa and Miraflores Burgos have a deadline set this Saturday, July 15, to meet them. In case they do, they'll play in the 2017-18 Liga Endesa, with Manresa and Betis being relegated. If only one of the clubs meets the requirements, then it will be Manresa, that finished last, the only relegated team. So, next season's Liga Endesa will again feature 17 teams.

The other point on the agenda of the assembly was the agreement with the Federation and the State body for Sports (CSD) on the number of teams in the competition for coming years. The proposal of keeping 17 teams for this season and the following and then going to 16 in the summer of 2019 has been turned down by the clubs, so, the ACB announced it will keep working with the other bodies to reach an agreement on this matter.
